TIME 100 Most Influential: Here’s who made the list

TIME Magazine’s picks for the 100 most influential people in the world include: the guy who wrote “Hamilton,” almost all of the presidential candidates and Caitlyn Jenner.

With profiles written by other notable figures, the magazine featured regular favorites like President Barack Obama (who marked his 11th appearance on the list in 13 years) and newcomers like Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky and former Olympic athlete Caitlyn Jenner.

Another new notable: Youtube comedian PewDiePie (aka Felix Kjellberg), whose channel on the video platform has drawn more than ten billion views.

Presidential politics heavily influenced the list, with almost all the major party candidates listed as leaders: Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. Sanders led the magazine’s public poll for who should appear on the list.

Other politicians, including House Speaker Paul Ryan and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, also appeared on the list.

Some made double appearances as both profile writers and profile subjects:

• Obama, profiled by Charleston shooting survivor Jennifer Pinckney, wrote the profile forAung San Suu Kyi
• Ryan, who was profiled by 2012 running mate Mitt Romney, wrote the profile for Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, even providing a helpful recording pronouncing Priebus’ name

Other political notables made cameos as profile writers:

• Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker wrote a profile for Sen. Ted Cruz, describing him as “actually doing the things in office that he said he would do”
• Rep. Renee Ellmers profiled Donald Trump, calling him unconventional and “a ferocious leader”
• Hillary Clinton was profiled by Sen. Amy Klobuchar as “the friend who takes the call, the public servant who listens and acts, the mom who makes sure it gets done right”
• Sen. Lindsey Graham wrote Nikki Haley’s profile, praising her leadership “with determination, grace and compassion”
• Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich profiled Bernie Sanders as a "populist provocateur"
