Quick facts about Ohio's House Bill 123

• House Bill 123 would use income tax credits to attract Ohio students to careers in science, technology, engineering or math. Students earning associate degrees would be eligible for a $5,000 tax credit, those earning bachelor’s degrees a $20,000 credit, and those earning master’s degrees or doctorates a $30,000 credit.

• The credits would be paid out 10 percent each year over the course of 10 years.

• People earning the credit would have to stay in Ohio for at least five years upon graduation. Anyone who left earlier — unless leaving to pursue further STEM education — would have to pay back any credit received.

• The bill also would make candidates eligible for municipal income tax credits.
