The scholars were provided schorlarship by the PTDF to study in Norway.
12 females and 48 males were successfully selected to study BSc programmes in oil related fields in Otsfold University College, Fredrikstad, Norway.
Addressing the scholars at the departure event, Executive Secretary of the PTDF, Mr Oluwole Oluleye, said the educational programme was part of the agency's capacity development mandate for the oil and gas industry and youth development.
Represented by Malam Balarabe Ahmed, General Manager, Administration and Human Resources, Oluleye said the award for the scholars was unique because it is the only programme the Fund was undertaking in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
He said merit and federal character principles were used in selecting the scholars with preference given to the Niger Delta.
Oluleye said the Fund decided to initiate the programme based on the huge successes recorded in the training of scholars at MSc and PhD levels over the years, adding that the programme would be beneficial to Nigeria if youths are given the opportunity to explore various undergraduate programmes under the amnesty programme of the Federal Government.
One of the successful scholars, Ms Okereke Gift Chinonso, who is going to study Innovation Entrepreneurship Engineering, said she would make her family and the country proud.
Also, Diobri Peter who is studying Engineering and Enterpreneurship, said, "we are promising this nation we are not going to disappoint them"
The scholarship which lasts for three-and-half years, include a six month apprenticeship period.which they will proceed to the main programme in Otsfold University College, Fredrikstad, Norway.
