COLUMBUS, Ohio -
Two teens were taken into custody following an early morning a pursuit that ended in a crash in Franklin County.
According to dispatchers, a trooper from the West Jefferson post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol located a vehicle that had been reported stolen traveling on east on Interstate 70 near Madison County at about 3:52 a.m. Friday.
The trooper initiated a traffic stop, at which time the suspect vehicle sped away from the trooper.
The driver allegedly continued eastbound on I-70, to state Route 315, into downtown Columbus before crashing in the intersection of High and Vine Streets.
One of the teen suspects was taken into custody at the scene of the crash. The second suspect reportedly fled from the scene following the crash.
Troopers and Columbus police officers searched the area around the Columbus Convention Center for the second suspect, a 15-year-old boy. A short time later, the boy was located and taken into custody.
The teens are each facing felony charges of receiving stolen property, and fleeing. The teens were not taken to jail, according to troopers. They were released to family members because troopers did not have enough criteria to incarcerate them.
Troopers say the two have had previous encounters with law enforcement.
