2 Teenage Girls Charged In Terror Plot At Marysville High School

MARYSVILLE, Ohio - Two Marysville High School students are charged after investigators say the teenage girls asked a classmate for guns, and said they would kill administrators.

According to the Union County Prosecutor's Office, the suspects are ages 14 and 15. Each girl is charged as a juvenile with one count of soliciting or providing support for an act of terrorism. NBC4 does not report the names of suspects charged in juvenile court. Additionally prosecutors said there is a protection order in place to conceal the suspects' identities.

In court documents, prosecutors said, on February 3, the girls approached a classmate asking for guns. The classmate, also a student at Marysville High School immediately called 911.

"I'm a student at Marysville High School, I need someone at my house. There's going to be a conspiracy for a school shooting...They just told me about it. They wanted me to supply them with firearms," the classmate said to dispatchers on a 911 call.

The incident occurred the same month that marks the two-year anniversary of the school shooting in Chardon, Ohio that left three people dead.

According to court documents, the teen girls exchanged messages indicating they, "Wanted to start a school shooting at Marysville High School...that they would kill the administrators and then tell people the lockdown was a drill...They would go room to room trying to make classmates kill each other."

NBC4 reached out to the superintendent of Marysville Exempted Village Schools for a comment, but did not receive a response.

David Virts, of Marysville, has a 13-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son in the district. Virts said that while the incident concerns him, he has faith in the district which he said has held many drills and worked to guard against violence.

"You can't stop somebody from doing something bad, but you can be prepared for it," Virts said.

Meanwhile one of the teens has entered a "denial" plea at her initial hearing according to prosecutors. The other suspect is awaiting her initial hearing.
