MENTOR, Ohio– A man is accused of soliciting a young girl for sex on
Facebook and police say he could be wanted for similar crimes in other
cities.
Mentor police said in January, the department was alerted to a potential sex predator.
A 12-year-old girl contacted detectives after a Facebook user going by the name “Zeon Zak” asked her for inappropriate pictures of herself.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force assisted.
An investigator then posed as a 14-year-old girl and communicated with the suspect online.
During the conversation, police said “Zeon Zak” solicited her for sex.
Police said “Zak” was identified as Troy P. Slapnicker, 30, of Mentor.
On Feb. 11, authorities executed a search warrant and arrested Slapnicker and charged him with one count of importuning, which is a 5th degree felony.
Computer equipment was taken from his home and will be examined. Police say he could face more charges from that examination.
Mentor police said other Northeast Ohio police departments have also received calls about “Zeon Zak” sending pornographic material to juveniles and making sexual remarks.
Police encourage parents to speak to their children about the dangers of communicating with strangers online.
If you have any information about “Zeon Zak” contacting your child, you’re asked to call the Mentor Police Department Detective Bureau at (440) 974-5760.
