They were running in a winter wonderland. As many as 1,500 city school kids laced up their sneakers for the fourth annual Jingle Bell Jog in Prospect Park on Saturday. Some even wore costumes.
Students joined nearly 6,000 runners for the four-mile race.
Even NY1's Pat Kiernan was there and said that for him it was a family affair.
"My knees are not well suited to running. My kids are running. My wife is running. I'm here in their support. They get me out occasionally for about 3 miles at a time,” Kiernan said.
The Jingle Bell Jog is sponsored by the New York Road Runners Club.
Proceeds benefit hundreds of youth running programs in city public schools.
