VoYagers (Voices of Youth), the community outreach wing of the Bengali Association of Dallas Fort Worth
(BA-DFW) donated $2,200 to the Children’s Medical Center of Dallas on
Saturday, October 26th. The funds are earmarked for The Pauline Allen
Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
BA-DFW, in its 30th year of existence, is a cultural organization of immigrants from the Eastern region of India and organizes social and cultural events for the regional community.
While BA-DFW’s office is located in Richardson, its programs are attended by residents from all over the metroplex, the state and even neighboring states. The outreach wing of BA-DFW is the VoYagers which comprises youth between the ages of 10 and 18.
Over the past several years, the VoYagers group has organized monthly volunteering events at local charitable organizations such as the Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, Plano Food Pantry, North Texas Food Bank and the Make-A-Wish Foundation and has raised funds to support these organizations.
This year, during the weekend of October 12-13, at BA-DFW’s annual fall festival attended by over 1,100 guests, the VoYagers raised $5,201 through 2 days of fundraising activities which involved snack and coffee sales and a silent auction and raffle.
Similar to previous years, the VoYagers will donate 100 percent of their funds to local charities. The beneficiaries of this year’s funds are the following – Children’s Medical Center (The Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders), the Scottish Rite Hospital of Dallas, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas, Frisco Family Services and Foster Care Kids.
